Strange Geometry
This strange geometry
weightless and graya thought balloon
or lost helmetemplaced streamside
where nothing is happeningStill there was the pastel sky
clouds sprawled all glowyand the twitching eye of twilight
though nothing was seenNor did it rise no bird perched
on the edge of its careful wildernessgone it stays like the day leaves
not to come back never the same

Thoughts on the Telephone process
Responding to one work of art by making another gets me to look closer, to see more. I thought about Wallace Steven's Anecdote of the Jar as I considered this sculpture by the stream. His Tennessee hill is part of this telephone conversation too. I like that he's around.
