Sara True is a poet and painter whose work has been exhibited internationally. Born in California, she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from UC Santa Cruz and studied at the Hellenic International School of the Arts on Paros Island, Greece, and at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. Her paintings are intuitive, gestural abstractions of everyday life. She translates contemporary cultural sensoria into a unique language of color and form that evokes the musicality, spiritual underpinnings, and impulsive intensity of Abstract Expressionism. She draws inspiration from philosophy, poetry, and the world around her, depicting in abstraction the zeitgeist of the times.

Thoughts about the Telephone process
I found it more difficult to let go and enter the non-thinking creative headspace from which my works usually emerge. To carry someone else's creative expression into that place takes a level of trust and intimacy and there is a pressure in that. I found myself stopping and starting, thinking and overthinking. Eventually I allowed myself to feel what I was doing, trusting that my subtler senses would get it right and knowing that the result could be a rough interpretation and still be successful.
