Originally from Seoul, Korea, Soyoon Hia Cha currently resides in Boston, MA, where she studied photography and art history at the Art Institute of Boston, graduating in 2013. Soyomyoyo Photo was started in 2012, and under that name, Soyoon shoots event, band, and portrait photography, while simultaneously creating digital photo collages that have been shown in Boston, New York, and Montreal.

Thoughts on Telephone process

It was very natural to me to translate another person’s work and use the inspiration to create something new because I believe that is what we naturally do as artists. Every day we are inspired by others around us, art, conversation, different places… so it was wonderful and exciting to be able to participate in a collective of artists aiming to make work inspired by each other, even though we all have never met.
