Nadia Rossi and Ruby Pester, Trans-mundane Clearing, photograph in Inshriach Valley, Aviemore, Scotland

Scottish, b. 1985 and 1986, playing from Glasgow, Scotland

Grounded in sculptural performance we collaborate to make work that utilizes a variety of media and activity and is concerned with the territory of the familiar unfamiliar.

We use visual puns, irony and play to create interventions in order to challenge conventional perceptions of modern day existence. Working site specifically, we respond to locations and communities exploring the relationship between media, artist and society.

We also produce and facilitate public youth workshops with a focus on play in education.

Ruby Pester and Nadia Rossi have been working together since graduating in 2008 from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in, receiving degrees in Fine Art and Time Based Art. Pester and Rossi currently live and work in Glasgow, with a studio at the Kinning Park Complex, and are part of the artist group NOW NOW.

Thoughts on the Telephone process

We responded quickly to the previous image with limited resources and materials as we were up in the north of Scotland staying in a small bothy house at the time when the work was made. It was a useful exercise to have to think about how we could communicate with only a few household items, our bodies and a camera. This work really is only relevant with the other work as part of it's context; so it's interesting to think about viewing the whole piece as one artwork. We look forward to seeing the full picture.
