British, b. 1989, playing from London, United Kingdom
I am a visual artist living in Lincoln, where I graduated with BA (Hons) in Fine Art at the University of Lincoln, 2011.
My current art practice consists of a series of daily sketchbook drawings; containing direct observations, illustrated tales and diary-esque revelations. These can be viewed at: http://www.thomasjcuth.tumblr.com
My preferred moving image medium is stop-frame animation; following an abstract train of thought around the studio, like chasing a daydream with a camera, or carving out a series of drawings that sit atop a light box. These can be viewed at: http://www.vimeo.com/thomascuthbertson
As an experiment in video-art curation, Reel is a short film & live art showcase presenting animation, video & live audio-visual performance, directed by the artist for artists anywhere in the field. Screened/ installed/ performed in the city of Lincoln and UK. Updates and previous programmes can be viewed at: http://thomasjcuthbertson.blogspot.co.uk/p/reel-project.html

Thoughts on the Telephone process
I found the translation process quite daunting at first; there were many contradicting reasons for choosing to go one way or the other, where the two figures in the foreground were heading. So eventually, I had to part with a narrative that had been my immediate daydream - two figures in a tunnel that was leading from a city to a green landscape. I had fun elaborating on the adventure that lay ahead, firing off somewhere else in the world.
