American, b. 1990, playing from Portland, OR, USA
Holly Myers is an interdisciplinary artist & observer in Portland, Oregon. Her autobiographical works serve as structures to dissect her own psychological inclinations, regarding self-discipline, pleasure, willpower, and motivation. These investigations are often guided by a pseudo-scientific experimental method, via the mediums of photography, performance, edibles, sculpture, sound, and collage. Her art is also her way of delighting in everyday sensations, and feeling good about life.
Holly grew up in the Trinity Alps of Northern California. She studied visual art at Bennington College in Vermont, and received her BA in 2012. She has exhibited at Main Street Gallery and Highland Art Center, both in Weaverville, CA as well as Usdan Gallery in Bennington, VT. Holly has interned with Smack Mellon Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, and has assisted many notable artists in making work for exhibition. Awards include a Project Grant from the Student Endowment for the Arts at Bennington College, the Snyder-Highland Foundation Scholarship (three-time recipient), and the 5 Windows Gallery Scholarship (two-time recipient). One of her photographs is included in the Frederick R. Weismann Art Foundation’s collection in Los Angeles, CA.
