He Said, She Said is a piece for saxophone, piano, and synth bass written to explore and interpret the abstract though relatable colors and designs presented through watercolor painting. This piece was written for Linse Sullivan on alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone.

Thoughts on the Telephone process

Working around these restrictions were very exciting to me. The moment I saw the water color painting I was to interpret, I fell in love with it, immediately making it my desktop background and staring at it daily. The most difficult thing was resisting to interpret the shapes in the painting in any literal way as I didn’t want to become carried away in a story I’ve projected onto it. Incorporating the altogether form, colors, and shape into a piece a music was confusing and awkward seeing as I’ve always approach a piece of music as a very linear experiential form of art and I was exploring a form based of off my reaction to an image.
