Jonathan Bradbury, Sentinel
British, b. 1980, playing from London, United Kingdom
Jonathan has been a practicing sculptor, furniture maker, craftsman and photographer since 2000. In 2009 he moved to London and began working with various galleries as a projector manager and installation technician, whilst also being a founder and co-director of Collaborative Art, an artist run non-profit organisation focusing on collaborative projects, exhibitions and events.
As an artist he has participated in exhibitions and presentations in UK, Greece, Moscow, China, New Mexico, Berlin and Istanbul and contributed in publications in UK, China, Greece, Berlin and Istanbul.
His work is based on exploring and investigating the things that construct us, our world and the universe in which we exist. Through works based on social commentary he divides the artifices that separate us from each other and by using techniques to illustrate our similar component aspects such as the molecules we all contain strives to discover and highlight the potential we all carry within us.
Sentinel is an image based on an interpretation of string theory, quantum mechanics and particle physics, illustrating that we are all made of the same elements albeit in different atomical constructs through connections that span the observable and unobservable universe.
The images are short exposure shots of chemical reactions of various commonly found substances such as ink pigments, dust and organic matter within a drop of water exploring the concept of potential energy of a ‘cell’ and to symbolise the fact.
